Episode 43: Anna Brakenhielm (Passion for Business), Stockholm, Sweden

YPO member Anna Brakenhielm grew up in a small village in the countryside of Sweden. As a little girl, she dreamt of becoming a journalist so she could write and interview people. She started her career in journalism and PR consulting, but in no time, she was thrust into the limelight as a TV producer and business executive.

Soon she was an editor for a talk show, among the few female writers on the team. They hired her to book female guests and incorporate a female perspective into the show. She quickly became the head of creative, and at 29 years old, she was promoted to managing director of the TV production company.

Following a 10-year stint as the CEO of Strix Television, Anna founded Talpa Scandanavia on behalf of Dutch Media Mogul John de Mol, a company responsible for shows like “Big Brother” and “The Voice.” After a couple of years, Anna took over the company, rebranded it Silverback and sold it to ITV, the biggest commercial broadcaster in the United Kingdom.

Anna’s media endeavors have expanded beyond television into radio and publishing. She ran the Passion for Business magazine aimed for women in business. In this episode, Anna shares how young women can find success in the entrepreneurial world.
