Africa’s 50 Most Powerful Women

Forbes Africa names 50 Pan-African leaders to its unranked list of the continent’s most powerful women, including a YPO member. The first-of-its-kind Pan-African list includes women from business, politics, media, science, sports and public life, who are challenging the status quo and creating a trail on terrain where there was none. They are reshaping history, closing inequalities and pioneering new avenues of wealth creation, and in turn, lifting others with them.

Women in Tech 2020

ELLE magazine recognizes 17 women in tech it sees as bringing hope to an industry weathering many storms. These women, including three current YPO members, recognize that moving forward with the status quo is no longer an option and that tech can be used as a force for good. Working in venture capital, AI, cryptocurrency and running some of the nation’s biggest companies, as well as the industry’s most progressive inclusion initiatives, these women are using their talents and skills to help tech shape the kind of world we want to be a part of.

World’s Top Chief Executives

The two YPO members included in the Harvard Business Review Best-Performing CEOs in the World, 2019 list are recognized based not only on the financial performance of their companies but also on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) ratings. YPO is very proud to have a member recognized in Fortune’s Most Powerful Women in Business list, which is compiled by the magazine’s editors, who consider four criteria: the size and importance of the woman’s business in the global economy, the health and direction of the business, the arc of the woman’s career (résumé and runway ahead), and social and cultural influence.

FEMALE FOUNDERS 100

The five YPO members on Inc.’s second annual Female Founders 100 list have transformed every major industry in America. Included in this list are five YPO members.

2019 SOCIAL INNOVATION THOUGHT LEADERS

In September, the World Economic Forum and the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship announced the 2019 Social Innovation Thought Leaders. YPO member Fadi Ghandour, Chairman and CEO of Wamda Capital, a platform that invests, nurtures and builds entrepreneurship ecosystems across the Middle East and North Africa, was among the 40 awardees recognized for their innovative approach and potential for global impact.

AFRICA INNOVATORS 2019

The entrepreneurs on the Africa Innovators 2019 list, which includes a YPO member, have been chosen for their groundbreaking work, thought-leading initiatives, and creative approaches to problems. They each are exemplars of what’s possible when we take original approaches to solving big challenges.
